Roel Wingbermühle is conducting research -via Erasmus MC Department of Family Medicine and SOMT University of Physiotherapy- on prediction models that can predict recovery in patients with neck pain. From a systematic review we conducted, it appears that many prognostic models for recovery from neck pain have been published, but the vast majority are not suitable for clinical use due to essential methodological shortcomings and lack of validation. Using the ANIMO study conducted several years ago at the SOMT, we are developing prognostic models for neck pain recovery in a large cohort in which patients were treated with manual therapy.
