Especially for graduate physiotherapists from Belgium who want to specialize in treating people with health problems in the pelvic region, we offer an attractive two-year postgraduate course in Pelvic Rehabilitation (Pelvic Physiotherapy)
In the first year we lay the foundation with knowledge and skills in the field of pelvis and pelvic floor. In the second year there is deepening to more complex casuistry. Clinical competencies are central throughout the training: screening, diagnosing, prognosticating and treating patients with disorders in the pelvic region. We acquire new knowledge in lectures, apply it in working groups and train new skills specific to the pelvic region in skills classes. This training is very practice-oriented. We therefore practice on each other to experience and learn the role of patient and researcher or practitioner.
Within the program we pay attention to pediatric pelvic physiotherapy. It is also possible at SOMT University of Physiotherapy to specialize fully as a pediatric pelvic physiotherapist.
Both years focus on competency learning with an internship in practice. In this you also work independently in practice for half a year with a coach at a distance. You conclude the training with a clinical exam in a practice.
The course content is organized around 5 curricula:
Running through these content learning lines are competency learning lines:
Students from Belgium with a university master’s degree are exempt from the subjects of epidemiology and statistics.
